MAD HATTER BEGGING

The idea had crossed my mind a day or two ago, but I was just getting over jet lag from my trip to Germany a week ago. While I was in Germany my son Tom and his wife, Kathy, and daughter Hannah asked Todd’s sister who lives in the French village of Gex, near Geneva, if they could come for a visit. Not only could they come for a visit but Mary and her husband Craig were going to New York for ten days just when they wanted to visit. They could stay in Craig and Mary’s house with a great view of Mount Blanc. Tom and family were going to spend a week there, renting a car for daily trips and spending the nights in Gex.

The biggest expense of traveling is not airfare, it is accomodations. Switzerland is extremely expensive but a house to stay in would cut their costs enormously.

It was slowly dawning on me that this would be the ideal trip, a free place to stay, a car rented by someone else, and the company of people I really liked to be with and a visit with Mary and Craig and even visiting sister Kirke who I really liked as well.

So I suddenly invited muself, just barging right in, the wild whim of an 88 year old man. I wrote letters to check with everyone concerned, saying that I didn’t want to be a nuisance and went to bed.
