MADISON ARTS COUNCIL EXHIBIT OF ARTISTS’ NEW WORK

This afternoon the festivities of Mermaids and Pirates weekend began with an exhibit opening of recent work by Madison County artists. The exhibit included an upstairs show of outstanding photographs from Afrilachia, a book documenting the lives of Blacks in Appalachia. Accompanying the reception was a Soul band, marvelous but very very loud making discussion of the art pieces impossible.
I am including photographs of a number of the pieces here.

And then in the afternoon the Mixtile photographs of Woodson Branch unexpectedly appear. In a whirlwind I was helped by Jamie at French Broad Book Exchange to mount them on a black board, which he cut for me from his bookshelf materials and put the photographs in his front window.
