RISING APPALACHIA AT ZADIE’S
Martha Nelson had offered me a ticket to listen to the band Rising Appalachia in Asheville. I don’t know how much tha ticket would have cost, but the concert here in Marshall was free. And it was terrific. Two sisters, Leah Song and Chloe Smith were the headliners with their mother joining them in one song. They are independent producers of their own shows and are also activists for good causes. Donations to their concert on the one year anniversary of the Helene flood that damaged every building on Marshall’s Main Street was a fundraiser with all donations going to rebuilding Marshall. Their music was beautiful and haunting.

We missed you over here in Black Mountain for the Rising Appalachia concert, Bill. There was a parade of lighted sea creatures during the final song. Did they have that during the concert in Marshall? It would have been something interesting to 3-D video!
