MARCH 18, WEDNESDAY

DUSTY BENEDICT’S EXHIBIT

I’ ve written ten days or so ago about trying to attend the opening of Dusty’s exhibit of paintings at Little Animals Gallery in Asheville and my misadventures in not following directions and then being delayed and missing the opening completely. Today was the closing with a talk by Dusty. I was there on time. I knew a number of people there who were connected to Warren Wilson College where I taught for 43 years. It was fun talking to people and Dusty’s story of how he became a painter and how he taught students was interesting.

Dusty let me take photographs of his paintings on display. I won’t try to describe them, I’ll just show a few of them here. One set of paintings was made 30 years ago, the second set were painted in response to the damage caused by the Helene flooding of Western North Carolina a year and a half ago.
