HAIRCUT

Tom, my son, cut my hair today. Several years ago when I went to the barber and got my hair cut for $12 plus $1 tip he would take quite a long time and leave a little on top. But Tom is ruthless. He puts the electric clippers on a low setting and goes from front to back in four or five long swipes and everything is instantly gone, a buzz cut. He cuts his hair the same way. We are both bald with shiny heads, which he must have inherited from me. It makes sense to be shaved in hot weather, but in the cold of winter I am forced to wear a thick hat, both to keep warm and to hide my shiny bald head. He is just as ruthless with my beard, leaving only a quarter of an inch. But it doesn’t matter much, I may look like a plucked chicken but no on notices and it will grow back. He even removes the hair spiraling from my ears and nose, but not cheerfully, with a look of mild disgust.
