ENTERTAINING THE CHURCH LADIES
Finally, on Saturday we sorted out and put a way the last of the boxes of papers that had been cluttering the apartment. Finally the apartment was presentable with nothing that had to be done. Susie is at some point going to turn one of the cubicles into an ancestor’s room with photographs. But right now, if I stay in my few corners of the apartment and don’t touch the rest there is nothing more to be done and everything will remain presentable. After a year I am moved in.
The first church ladies showed up with their canes and walkers at 11 to heat up their casserole. We had a great time sitting around and talking. At 12 we sat around my long dining room table, one large extension added, and just enough room for my new Mexican table cloth with Mexican and Sri Lankan place mats and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. At about 2 p.m. they went home after helping to put the dishes into the dishwasher and I was done for the day. It was fun.
