OLD MEN’S COFFEE AT MCDONALDS

This was my first meeting with my old men’s group since Dean Kahl died. I wanted to talk about Dean Kahl’s death and how it affected us. But maybe I was a week too late and the others had dealt with his death last week when I was gone. We talked about baseball and 1776 and the revolutionary war and about other things that I now don’t remember. But it was good to be with my male friends again. I may not feel as much joy as Isabella Ducrot does while painting, but I think the pleasure we old men get by being together is similar. Being with each other makes us feel alive in the present and that is enough.
