COMFORT HERE, TERROR THERE

Confusion. I went to my old man’s coffee at McDonalds and had a great time with friends, then I was invited for soup and sandwiches at the Collins house partly to get me to stay for a church meeting in which the congregation voted on accepting the Reverend Jessica Rigel to be our new minister. She addressed us in a video and seemed to be a wonderful person, then I picked up another load from my Swannanoa locker and stopped at Trader Joe for milk and some more food to get me through the new coming snowstorm and drove back to Marshall.

But all of this time while I was having a good time living a comfortable life with friends and a new minister, in a kind of idyllic life, the weight of America’s polarization and the violence in Minneapolis hung over me.
