BOTANICAL GARDEN

Today the yoga group packed in four taxies and when up, up and up to the ridge above the city limit of San Miguel de Allende. Most people’s idea of a botanical garden is a riot of flowers, enormous ferns and dense foliage. But this botanical garden, that is bone dry desert most of the year, was not that way at all. Instead most of the foliage had thorns and the featured plants were cacti. But it was beautiful nevertheless.

After looking in the beautiful craft store we walked slowly and in silence, taking photographs, along cobblestone paths that wound down to a reservoir that was built to store rainwater that had often flooded the town during the past in the brief rainy season. It was beautiful quiet time.
