MARSHALL CHRISTMAS PARADE

Today’s christmas parade from the Island, circling through downtown Marshall, and back to the Island brought to town traditional mountain people and newcomers to town. It was a celebration of Marshall with fire trucks, and giant cabs of 18 wheelers, and floats for politicians seeking office, floats for the flower shop, horse riders, floats for local churches and the Marshall High School Patriot band in their red, white and blue uniforms. From every float grownups and children tossed candy into the crowd with children running around and filling their bags. It was one of the celebrations in town in which the town celebrates itself and their identity as a small, rural, patriotic, church going, country loving town.
