MARSHALL HANDMADE MARKET

Sunday afternoon I drove from my old world at Warren Wilson Collge to my new world of Marshall for the yearly Marshall Handmade Market, ordinarily held yearly in the Marshall High artist’s studios on Blanahassett Island as Marshall but held these last two years, since the deluge of Helene swept through Marshall last year, at Ononata Farm near Mars Hill, NC.

Under a long line of white tented booths and in an old barn were over 50 vendors selling hand made things. My daughter Susie was there to help her friend Primrose sell tea in her teepee like tea tent. There was fiddle music and lots of children running around and beautiful things for sale. I am still new and only know a few people but Susie knew a great number of people. It is this small town community life that makes Marshall attractive to me. Here are a number of photographs of the market.
