NOVEMBER 22, SATURDAY

TALK

On a bright, cool Saturday morning I luxuriated in simply sitting at my desk and writing, then walking over the French Broad River bridge to Zuma Cafe in Marshall where I sat for two hours drinking half a cup of $4.00 coffee kept hot by a battery heated cup, but mainly enjoying being surrounded by conversation as the tables filled up. Some people order food, but many gather, almost daily, to drink a cup of coffee and talk.

In the evening I, along with Todd and Susie and their friend, Brad Shearer, And his girlfriend had dinner in Zadie’s on the porch under warm heaters with the river just beyond. Again we were together more to talk than to eat.
