REALLY FULL CLASS LETTER
Today there arrived in by email a PDF of the Woodstock School Class of 1954 newsletter compiled by our class secretary, Marianna Pressler who lives in Colorado. Woodstock School is in the lower Himalayas in north India, at 7000 feet with a view in one direction of the Siwalik hills and beyond them the plains of India and a view in the other direction of the jagged white peaks of the Himalayas over 25,000 feet high.
Our class of about 30 each year, good friends, left there as 16, 17 and 18 year olds 71 years ago and have remained attached all of this time sharing an expat experience of India that we can only share with each other since we meet almost no one who can relate to this foreigners’ experience of growing up in India.
Now in our late 80’s, some of us succumbing to dementia, many of us infirm, many in retirement homes, we are scattered all over the world. But this letter brings us together and brings back memories of long ago which, for me, anyway, are beginning to fade. So it is a bitter sweet letter.
