TEA TENT WITH CRANKIE COUPLE

This afternoon I met Susie at Primrose’s tea tent in the Marshall Studios. I got there just after closing time at 2 p.m. but a group of people were having a picnic in the tea tent as they told stories. A man and a woman from Baltimore were on their way to the Campbell Folk School near Asheville where they were going to do a Crankie workshop. But it was the home of the man that was most interesting to me. He lives in what has been a rundown, non gentrified area of Baltimore and two connected Brownstone row houses which combined have 19 rooms, each room of which he has decorated in a particular style and filled with restored cast off furniture. The Mayan room has all the walls painted as stylized jungle. He was eager to show us the photos on his phone of his rooms and has invited us to stop by on our way to Rehoboth Beach in February.
