OLD MEN’S COFFEE AT HIGHLAND FARMS

It was good to be with my elderly male friends again and to be able to tell them a little about my England trip, but mainly just to sit and listen for an hour and a half. We were invited by Sheldon Neuringer to breakfast at Highland Farms retirement community, paid for by part of his $300 a month food allowance. Highland Farms is where my mother and father lived their last years and where they both died. It is where many of my retired friends have moved for their final years. It was where Kathe and I were going to spend our last years. I am still on the waiting list. I would be comfortable there and Highland Farms has many organized old folks activities for elderly residents and even more that residents dream up for themselves. The dining hall is beautiful and the hearty breakfast that I had was delicious. But Highland Farms would swallow all my money with nothing left over to travel.

I am happy in Marshall where each day is an adventure and I can afford to wander the earth, as I will do next month when I fly to Rome.
