MEET AND MAKE

Susie called me to come over to the Studios on the Blanahasett Island, in the middle of the French Broad River in Marshall. This used to be the local high school, which moved to a consolidated Madison Highschool up on the 25/70, the highway that connects Madison County to the world. Now it is converted artist studios with each artist getting a whole large classroom as their studio for $600 a month. Trish, lower right in this photo, invites women to Meet and Make (and talk) on Monday mornings. They sit around a large table, working on individual art projects and talking and having a great time. They have been meeting on the second floor because the first floor where they have just moved was washed out by Helene flooding of the French Broad River.
