TED’S VISIT

We had breakfast at my apartment before Ted drove at 10 to Charlotte. Again we looked through photographs.

But I forgot to post about dinner on Saturday evening when Ted first drove to Marshall. We met in Asheville and ate at Chai Pani, the Indian restaurant on South Slope owned by a James Beard honored Indian chef. The thalis we had, round metal plates with little cups of dal, raita, chick peas, rice and butter chicken curry, were delicious. But just as much a part of Chai Pani’s (tea water) experience are the decorations which are authentically Indian in brilliant colors in the middle of Asheville. On the way out we met four Indian young women, born in the United States, in their Chai Pani t-shirts whom I photographed, telling them that having been born in India I was more Indian than they were.
