NOVEMBER 26, TUESDAY

THANKSGIVING

On the last Thursday in November, November 28, we celebrated Thanksgiving, a national holiday. Thanksgiving is a harvest festival that apparently is celebrated in a number of countries and has several roots, according to Wikipedia, in the United States including a celebration by the Pilgrims, early American settlers.

Now days Thanksgiving is one of the times of the year when families gather together for a good meal featuring turkey and many side items followed in many households by the men watching football on tv.

Our family celebrated Thanksgiving at the home of my son Tom and his wife Kathy. Their two daughters, my grandchildren, Hannah and Caroline (with her boyfriend Liam), were home from college and Kathy’s sister Lauren came to visit with her family.

Thanksgiving also marks the beginning of the Christmas season so Kathy and her sister and their families spent the next day, Friday, shopping.
