NOVEMBER 22, FRIDAY

SWANNATOPIA AT WARREN WILSON GARDEN

On Saturday a group called Swannantopia whose odd looking store window I had seen in Swannanoa, on the higher ground, untouched by the flooding, and wondered who they could be, revealed themselves. They are some kind of local artist collective who combined with some the work crews at Warren Wilson College to host a response to the flood and a fundraiser for flood victims.

It was almost a whimsical event with a puppet show, a singer and a dancer, a parade and a spiral of mismatched shoes to walk through. A slide show and movie made grainy by flood watchers showed the damage caused by the flood At the end of the evening the old Bryson gym on campus was brightly decorated for a late night band concert.

People came from as far away as Marshall to join in the celebration
