VISITING HOT SPRINGS

Susie and I drove over to see Hot Springs for the first time since Helene hit. Hot springs is on the Appalachian trail which extends the length of the Appalachian mountains, where it comes down from the mountain ridges to cross over the French Broad River. This is leaf season, when the maples and other trees turn turn bright red, gold and orange and people come to Hot Springs to see the colors and have a beer in the downtown brewery and maybe to soak for a while in one of the tubs at the Hot Springs Spa.

Luckily most of Hot Springs is on a hillside and was untouched by flooding. But the Main Street got flooded pretty badly. No restaurants were open and the Hot Springs Spa appeared to be pretty badly damaged. But it appears that Hot Springs will survive.
