PRIMROSE’S TEA AND COFFEE TENT

Sunday morning Todd, Susie and I drove to Primrose’s house on a ridge above Marshall where she had put up a fairytale tent that she had bought from some Amish people and painted herself with red stripes and half circles.

Primrose is English who moved to Tennessee, married, divorced, with a growing son and then moved to Marshall. She is an artist who paints beautiful paintings but also a singer with a beautiful voice who makes up Cranky shows in a little theater whree she paints scenes on a long strip of paper which she cranks across the tiny stage as she narrates a story accompanied by song. I am including a show she did at the now flooded Marshal Jail Hotel and restaurant just before I left for Bogata with the place French Broad River in the background.

Primrose bought a rundown house on the ridge and is redoing it herself with the help of friends, in which practicality comes second to beauty and originality.

Her form of support to people stressed out by Hurricane Helene is to make her tent into a quiet place to drink tea and coffee which she offers to anyone who comes by. We had a delight hour with her, drinking tea and admiring her progress on her house.
