HUNGER RELIEF

Today my son Tom and I drove to the Asheville Farmer’s Market to deliver donations of water and food and and money which a friend of his on the Maryville basketball team when he was in college almost 40 years ago came over from Maryville, usually a two hour drive but now much longer, to help another friend get a tree off of his house.

I was asked by the wife of a schoolmate of mine at Woodstock School in the Indian Himalayan mountains where she could contribute relief help and I think the Manna Food Bank would be a good place. Manna Food Bank collects unsold food from grocery chains, such as Ingles, a large local grocery company, headquartered here near Swannanoa, and distributes it to the hungry. So they are already prepared to distribute food to those who are hungry or thirsty.
The website for Manna Food Bank is MANNAFoodBank.org and the phone number is 828-299-FOOD (3663).
