SUSIE’S LAST DAY IN BOGATA

We discovered yesterday evening that we had missed the Offering room in the Gold Museum and there was a breakfast place across from the museum that we wanted to try. So we walked the half mile to the breakfast place and then visited the museum again. The breakfast, fried eggs ($3) was delicious and the Offering room was worth the extra visit. There were a bunch school children who were guided around the museum by their teacher in a train, all fifteen of them holding the shoulders of the kid in front of them.

We went on to see the Gabriel Marquez community center with Juan Valdez coffee shop and a marvelous huge circular bookstore with a blue pond in the center.

Then, while Susie wandered some more, I walked along the Main Street lined with carts and sidewalk booth so our apartment. In the evening we went one last time to the nearby cozy Italian restaurant. We remembered that when we first arrived we were warned not to go out on the streets after dark, now with people out having a good time after dark we feel completely safe. Our ignorance and prejudice about Colombia are finally washed away and we hate to leave. And then Susie packed, ready to be up at 3:30 a.m. to fly home.
