AUGUST 20, TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY

RIVER ARTS DISTRICT FARMER’S MARKET

Every Wednesday there is a farmer’s market under the huge high bridge across the the French Broad river with plenty of parking and white tented booths where local farmers sell their produce. The tomatoes are juicer, blemishes and all, than those in Ingles, the giant grocery chain headquartered in Asheville and there are French pastries for sale and wonderful crusty bread along with honey and natural remedies. There is also a holiday spirit with everyone bringing their own baskets and sacks to take things home with. There are also many more tattoos, both on vendors and shoppers, than at Ingles.

So I met Susie there and we shopped and then I went home and had two cobs of sweet corn and a huge tomato for supper.
