JUNE 28, FRIDAY

DINNER WITH TODD’S RELATIVES

We left Onalaska and walked around Trempealeau, a beautiful small town on the bank of the Mississippi.

The high point of this day was lunch in Osseo, a Norwegian town, where we ate lunch at the Norske Nook Bakery and Restaurant where we had Norwegian pancakes with Lingonberry syrup and Norwegian potato pancakes. The restaurant famous for its Norwegian fruit pies was half an eatery and half a gift shop with memories of its Norwegian past. The men at the next table were speaking Norwegian.

And then we drove through the very hilly countryside beside the Mississippi River to see the Owl Museum in Huston. And finally made our way to Steven’s point where we had dinner at the home of Susan, Norma Lea’s daughter and her husband Tom Nyki and a house full of their children and other relatives.

We stayed the night with Jim and Lisa, Todd’s sister, at the Artha Sustainable Living Center near Steven’s Point.
