ASHEVILLE DOWNTOWN AFTER FIVE

On the third Friday of each month during the summer on Lexington Avenue in downtown Asheville the street is blocked off and there is an outdoor concert. This Friday in honor of Juneteenth, celebrating the end of slavery in the United States, the band Lyric set the mood.

In the parking lot beside the stage were a number of food trucks and tents of an open air market in which people sold crafts and organizations advertised their activities. There was beer for sale and people, often families with young children, came to relax and have a good time, to dance and shimmy and let loose.
