APRIL 23, TUESDAY (CTD)

WESTERLAND

In spite of the cold the streets were full of people and a great number were sitting all bundled up in outdoor cafes which often provide fake fur robes and blankets to keep people from freezing.

Westerland is an obvious tourist town, but there are many old, attractive buildings and everything is done with German good taste and restraint. This isn’t Atlantic City. Half of the holiday goers are over sixty, but there are also a few school groups. I wonder what they do here. Maybe walk on the windy beach. I think there is an aquarium, but I’m not sure why they are here in the wind and their overcoats or where they stay with their carry on bags.

I couldn’t decide where to eat lunch so came back and finished my Turkish meal from last night. When I woke from my nap it was raining so I decided to spend the afternoon processing photographs.

In the evening I went to Gosch on the Strand for fish and roasted potatoes in a delicious sauce. Another good day in Germany.
