APRIL 14, SUNDAY

DAT GROODE HUT

Sunday the main event was a concert in the largest hall of Dat Groode Hut, a reconstruction of an 18th century farm village constructed by moving the few remaining log barns and sheds to land on the edge of Winsen.

The site is now a museum with artifacts from the earlier time displayed in the various buildings. It is visited by school children and is Winsen‘s foremost tourist attraction. But it has also brought concerts to Winsen such as the one Elke and I went to Sunday afternoon. The concert was put on by the Institut fur Fruhforderung der Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien a special school in Hannover for children with exceptional young talent, in this case for music. The children who performed on a variety of instruments were between the ages of 13 and 17. How well they played was beyond belief. I am including a twenty minute video of a section of the concert which will demonstrate their talent better than anything I could say. It was a wonderful two hour concert.
