VIRTUAL SCREENS
How you can create a virtual screen that hangs in the air in front of you, which you can slide around, push farther away and bring closer all from a device within one inch of your eyes, baffles me completely. I can sort of understand how the quality of photographs is affected by the Vision Pro from my experience with using digital cameras. I can make common sense observations about a screen looking bigger when close and smaller when further away. I can even understand that optometrists can look into my eye and see where it is focused without my understanding how. And I can kind of sense how two videos shot from a slightly different angle can be combined into a 3D movie, either by my own brain or some other digital way of creating rounded 3D. But being able to place a flat screen in the middle of my living room, or putting a virtual chair beside the couch to see what it looks like, completely baffles me. This is the step into the world of virtual reality that seems impossible. So I’m not even going to guess how it is done. I am not playing dumb, I am dumb.
