CAROLINE
I learned this week that Caroline, my granddaughter is unable to have her internship in Geneva. She can only have an on line internship, so my plan to travel across Europe, visiting friends and relatives in various places and meeting her in a different place each weekend, a major reason for buying this ticket and making this trip, hasn’t worked out the way I thought it would.
Part of the fun of travel is the unexpected. What I am planning now to do is to spend a few days in Geneva visiting Todd’s sister Mary and her husband Craig with a three day visit to the Ardeche region of France, followed by a couple of days in Aschaffenburg where I was in the army eons ago and where I got to know a German family with two sweet little girls, now in their late 70’s whom I will visit, and then three weeks in Winsen, Germany where I will stay for a part of my time with Elke, Kathe’s best German friend through life, and Elke’s husband Heinrich and visit with whoever wants to visit with me.
And, of course, I still don’t know what unexpected things will happen. My project on this trip will be photographing and making videos of these places and any interesting activities that I happen onto. Travel is best when it is an adventure, which is what this short one month trip will be.
