HOW NOT TO WATCH THE SUPER BOWL

Today I watched the Super Bowl in Virampur, Gujarat, as I heard the children‘s cries as they played in the yard outside starting about 7 in the morning. Of course the actual Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers happened at 4 in the morning Gujurat time. So while Super Bowl parties were going on all over the United States I was fast asleep. I couldn‘t have seen it anyway because I didn‘t have any way to stream it live.

At 8 I began watching highlights of the game on You Tube through some Asian channel. That worked for the first quarter and then the second. But when I moved to the third quarter with Kansas City ahead 13-10 the 5 GB of rapid Wifi on the little device that Meet hooked up for me was throttled down to a much slower speed. For the rest of the morning I could only watch the Super Bowl for five or six seconds at a time with long pauses in between. But I was frustrated even more because at this slow streaming pace the video kept jumping back and replaying sections. Finally, after an hour or so I jumped to the end of the game and when it came to life again I was in overtime and San Francisco was ahead 22-19, but the Chiefs were down to the 13 yard or so, and I finally stayed with it over long pauses and slow bursts until the Chiefs scored and won, 25-22. Even in Virampur I was able to see Taylor Swift, in brief bursts, cheering her man, Travis Kelce, on.

But not satisfied I went back to see how the Chiefs had managed to make it all the way down the field to the 13 yard line, which took another hour. And that was enough. I never did find out how San Francisco managed to get their final six points. Someday I will have to watch a replay of the whole game. But right now I am going to take a nap.
