NOOIT GEDACHT “NEVER THOUGHT OF”

Not only did I get a sense of the overwhelming power of the Dutch and their colonial ambitions in the Galle Fort but the guest house where I am staying was built as his country home by the Dutch Governor of Galle in 1732. After he retired from the Dutch East India company he continued to live here and to trade with the East India Company. The furniture is antique and the whole purpose of the hotel is a nostalgic return to those colonial days. There are a number of small and middle sized guest rooms built around a blue pool with greenery everywhere. The food served on the wide verandah and the large dining area is delicious. A later two story addition, separate from the house, and a large swimming pool were added in 2011.

So this is where I invited Thalatha and Winsor to stay and I think they had a good enough time among tourists speaking many European languages.
