4 YEARS OF COVID

Since coming back from Virginia Beach with Susie sick with Covid in the back seat and the windows open on the 8 hour ride, I’ve stayed in the house, afraid that if I went out I would expose someone. And then I was remainded that the Covid pandemic started 4 years ago, it was on the horizon in China and Italy in the early spring of 2020 and then swept over us. The fall before Covid we celebrated Kathe’s 80th birthday by driving to Vermont and staying in the Boright’s cabin and then in January Tom and I drove to St. Petersburg and the Florida Keys, not realizing that we were about to be locked up for a couple of years. This year at the end of our time at Virginia Beach we were suddenly all masked up again and cautious again.

Susie and John Boright had our last fondue meal there sitting outside on the porch while the rest of us ate indoors. What a four years this has been. I have sat still these last four days since getting back without taking a photograph or going on a walk or having any adventures with nothing to write about. And we thought somehow the pandemic was long gone.
