PEACE

I did nothing today except to sit up on the flat roof up a winding staircase with no railing from my room on the second floor. There are comfortable chairs and tables here under a sunshade.

I did at lunchtime walk to a much closer grocery store than the store I didn‘t find yesterday for more basic groceries. On the way I met Efi on the street and her daughter Olga who was just getting out of a car that brought her from the ferry from Athens where she lives.

Tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. there will be a special celebration in the big church at the top of the hill to celebrate the life of Efi‘s mother, Olga‘s grandmother. The celebration is held 40 days after a person dies and the whole extended family will be here and I will get to meet them. Afterwards we will gather somewhere for coffee. Efi also wanted to let me know that she was bringing me lunch today. When I got back from the grocery store she brought to my room a bowl of cabbage leaves stuffed with minced meat. It was delicious.

Then I napped and when I woke Susie called and showed me the frost outside her window, a result of a sudden cold snap at home. And then I came up on the roof again. Content after a peaceful day.
