GOLDEN BEACH

This was Tom and Caroline’s last full day in Naousa. We took it easy with a slow brunch at Regoussis. I had potato strips cooked in a nice sauce with chicken drippings on top and fresh orange juice. On the last day of October a great number of stores and restaurants are closing and the workers are moving to Athens for the winter. But not everyone. And Regoussis Bakery with its large variety of breads and pastries will stay open as well as the outdoor Italian restaurant we have liked so much where we later had supper.

After a late breakfast Tom drove our red Skoda 30 minutes to Golden Beach, a long wide beach with the cleanest and finest sand of any beach we have been to. Instead of riding around the island for the day we rented padded recliners and sat on the beach drinking beer and eating cheese pizza for four hours before returning to Naousa. Then I napped and Tom and Caroline shopped before we went to the Italian place for supper where our waiter gave Tom a Mamos beer glass at no charge and I took his photograph.
