SUNDAY MASS IN THE TAORMINA DUOMO
Going to mass in the main Taormina church this morning was probably the most Sicilian and non touristy thing I have done since I got to Italy. The church was about half full. I went to the 9:30 service in Italian, and not understanding anything stood up when everyone stood up, sat down when they sat down and got very painfully onto my knees when they got on their knees (not for long).
And then after church I sat at a cafe on Umberto Corso, wall to wall tourists including me, and watched the people from everywhere walk by. Today the weather is just slightly cooler, probably right at 70. I haven’t noticed a cloud since I got here.
