TAORMINA: BEACH AND WEDDING PARTIES

Today Susie joined me on Facetime and we walked down Umberto Corsa and looked into the shops and then took the cable car down the steep rock cliff to the cafes and hotels on the wide beach below where the turquoise waves were lapping on the sand. This seemed to be a more middle class vacation resort with ordinary tourist souvenir shops and simpler food and no glitzy stores.

On the way back I ran into a wedding party as they made their way up way up Umberto Corsa with three singers play a guitar, an accordion and a drum leading the way. Tourists, including me, were delighted and took photographs and clapped and then the party got to the wide space in front of a church with a view out over the Mediterranean the band played and sang, the surrounding tourists sang along and the bride and groom and the whole wedding party began to dance. It was a wonderful afternoon.

I am including some photographs of other wedding parties that I met on Umberto Corsa.
