GAY PRIDE FESTIVAL

My last day in the United States I went out to lunch with Susie. She had heard there was Gay Pride Festival on Pack Square in central Asheville. Warren Wilson is a very LGBTQ friendly college and Asheville is a very LGBTQ friendly town in a state that is currently passing anti trans legislation, an example of the urban/rural polarization all over the United States.

It was a day to dress up and outrageously strut your stuff and celebrate gender differences. The rainbow colors were everywhere, worn by those who were gay or trans and those who supported them. There was love in the air and music everywhere and speeches and a spirit of joy and celebration. It was a wonderful final day here for awhile.
