ART ON THE ISLAND

Saturday afternoon September 21, I went with Susie to Art on Blannahassett Island in the French Broad River at Marshall. It was a sunny, cool, fall afternoon. On the grass beside the old high school building that is now converted into artist’s studios were 30 or 40 white tents where local artists were selling their artwork. There was a young woman singing from a stage at one end of the park and people sitting on blankets on the grass listening. The Sweet Monkey had a food booth and a group of Latino women sold Nicaraguan food. There was a children’s tent where children were making robots of their own design out of junk materials. It was a wonderful afternoon.
