INDEPENDENCE DAY
I forgot to mention my celebration of Uruguay’s Independence Day yesterday. Uruguay gained declared it’s independence from Brazil in 1825 which led to a war between Argentina and Brazil which was ended when the British intervened in 1828. According to Google it would be a day of parades and speeches and fireworks. I went at 5, which I thought would be the appropriate time, to the center of Montevideo where the biggest government buildings are to photograph the events of the day. All I saw was people strolling around and walking their dogs except for a brief moment when some honor guard was taking down and folding the Uruguayan flag and marching it into one of the buildings. So this is my photograph of Uruguay’s Independence Day.
