A WALK THROUGH THE DUNES

After walking yesterday in the park around the private great house near her home in Haarlem, Henny had one more place where she often walks to show us. She wanted us to take a walk through the dunes that border the seaside. These huge dunes have formed from sand blown up from the beach.

They are covered with low prickly purple bushes and thick grass which must have adapted to surviving on the wind blown sand of the dunes. Again it was a beutiful walk with time spent in a beach cafe where we had lunch. Everyone else had tomato basil soup but I celebrated being at the seaside with delicious fish and chips.

After this second walk we drove past fields of flowers to Henny’s house for another simple meal of bread and with cheese and a good salad and lots of conversation.
