WALKING THROUGH HELSINKI

On our walks to various museums I have taken photographs of things that strike me, often with no time to decide whether to shoot, simply reacting instantly to something that touches me.

Other times, as with store windows I can take my time, but even then I am guided by a whim. And often store windows have such bright reflections of the street behind me that the result is very different from what I see. I shoot away and then decide later if the photograph still touches me or not. So here are some street scenes of Helsinki. Today was a drab day and and many of the buildings are utilitarian and without striking features. There is sludge and gravel on the sidewalks. But flashing out on these drab streets are many instances of brightly colored clothing or decorated store windows. Here are some of them.
