VARANASI WHOLESALE FLOWER MARKET
Every morning farmers send their flowers from farms around Varanasi to the whole sale market and by mid afternoon the sale of flowers to shops that prepare ritual offerings for temples and for ceremonies at the river are in high gear. Huge piles of golden and orange marigolds are for sale, taken away wrapped in large cloth covered bundles on people’s heads and then on cycle rickshaws to the little shops which will package them with other offerings for puja, worship.
