WALKING IN VARNASI (1)

Of course I am not responding to everything I see as I walk down the street, my iPhone in my hand, ready to record anything that touches me. I am only showing the more exotic or odd or intense side of India. But of course it is this side of India that draws me here again and again, not the industrial or advertising or business side of India. And I am more likely to respond to remnants of the past than to India’s rapid modernization. So those photographs, today and tomorrow are things that touch me as I walk the lanes from Assi Ghat to Gaudaliya or as I walk with Todd and Susie along the ghats on the banks of the Ganges crowded with pilgrims and tourists.
