SPELL CHECKER, IDENTITY CHECKER
Another article on artificial intelligence. It is much more ubiquitous than I had thought. It is one thing for robots to take away the mind numbing assembly line type work that robots are doing. That threatens the identity of some people but it doesn’t threaten me.
But replacing the ability to think for yourself or to express yourself well seems a real threat to my identity or to anyone’s identity.
It really does feel that what I think of as being the conscious me could be replaced, or done with a better knowledge base and a more fluid writing style than I can do, will shift me into doubting my own understanding of the world and my ability to share it with someone else. I can figure something out for myself and then have to fact check it and restyle it through a computer program so that I will sound more authentic and more intelligent than I am.
I already rely on a spell checker, but soon I’ll be relying on a thought checker and reluctantly correcting and changing my identity to line up with big brother.
Soon we’ll be using an authoritative thought checker on others and, most painfully, on ourselves. We’ll be constantly undermined, or maybe affirmed, by an identity checker.
Maybe MAGA determination to hang on to the old values and the wild acceptance of conspiracy theories is a backlash attempt to hang onto traditional American identity which if threatened by computer assisted global changes in knowledge and values which are so identity threatening that MAGA people will do anything to resist them, even voting for a nincompoop like Hershel Walker.
