OCTOBER 7, FRIDAY

A FULL DAY

More wandering along the beach where the horse and camel rides were offered and the wind surfers were flying across the water. Then we did some carpet hunting, clueless as to how much to pay or how to proceed.

As we went into the carpet shop we saw a man with a rooster, that we assumed he was taking somewhere to cook and eat, but inside heard the story of how the man had lost his mother five months ago and inherited her house and her pet rooster, whom he took for walks in the alley and had his photograph taken by tourists who paid him for the privilege as his only way of making a living. So we got our photograph and paid up.

Then found our way along the back wall of the Medina where we could walk up on the fort walls where the cannons still faced the sea and found our way to Snack Chemalo for at fish and chicken tangine, baked in a clay pot and them came back to Casa Rosa and napped.

And then I woke up and we went up to the rooftop of an ocean side riad (hotel) that shone all four flights up with brilliant tiles and drank a lychee sour cocktail and ate steak and listened to a wild Moroccan band and enjoyed being in Morocco without thinking of Swannanoa at all.
