JULY 1, FRIDAY

FAIRHAVEN

Today Lisa took me to Fairhaven, an old part of Bellingham with wide tree shaded streets and interesting shops that is being restored and renewed. At the center of Fairhaven is a village green surrounded by restaurants and a book shop with a stage for movie nights on the green. We ate lunch here at the Colophon Cafe with her cousins, Caroline and Carl Mailler, who are here to visit their son’s family with, Evie, their new granddaughter, who live in Bellingham.

But before lunch we visited the historic Terminal Building that Jim and his father bought together ten years ago and where Lisa has her counseling office. There is a coffee shop in an old bar downstairs.

Also on the village green is A Lot Of Flowers, a flower store that was a favorite of Kathe and Susie when they visited Bellingham ten years ago.

Lunch was good and it was good to meet her cousins again whom I had met at Rehoboth Beach and who had visited Susie and Todd in Asheville.
