JOHN SANDOE BOOKS LTD
Our goal Sunday was to visit John Sandoe’s bookstore, beloved by Edna O’Brian and others. It was another long bus ride.
This was to the Chelsea section of London where the row houses with their private parks gave the feel of confident, understated wealth and power and both the men and women looked as if they had bought an elegant new outfit just for the day. The outdoor restaurants were full. We bought sandwiches at Pret A Manger and sat at nearby benches and pretended that we fit in. Then we walked and walked looking for a suitable outdoor cafe for a glass of wine, found one and sat for awhile and the took the bus home.
