MAY 8, SUNDAY

VISITING THE OLD VIC

My brother Richard arrived on Saturday morning. He slept well on the plane and was able to put in a full day. We went out for lunch at the Ilford Saravanaa Bhavan where he got an North Indian thali and I got a South Indian thali. And then we decided to go to the Old Vic theater to see if we could get tickets to a play that he wanted to see. The combined underground and bus trip in the front seat of the upper deck of a double decker took about an hour there and an hour back. Tickets were available for a Wednesday matinee with very good seats for only 30 pounds apiece. And then we spent the rest of the afternoon sitting at a cafe, first drinking coffee and then eating pizza and watching playgoers and other people walking by until we back on the bus. Saturday evening the pubs were full of people talking and drinking. We passed a few of them going home. So this is a people watching post.
