LOOKING FOR PARIS IN LONDON

Of course I didn’t find in Paris in London. I didn’t even know where to start looking. But by accident I found some of the things that I was looking for. And I also discovered a wild version of Bangla Desh in London, which I will get to tomorrow.
I walked seven miles yesterday, some on the way to my second visit to the National Gallery, so by the time I got there was a little sore and in no mood to be an art critic. I did see Leonardo Da Vince’s Virgin of the Rocks that I missed the day before and by accident a painting by Ucello that I liked and a the Wilton Diptych, which I also like.

And then, hungry, I went in search both of Poppies Fish and Chips and Paris. I found Paris first when trying to find the Charing Cross Underground I happened on a beautiful park near the Thames and also discovered that there are walkways along the Thames which are comparable to the walk ways along the Seine. The Seine walkways are more open and closer to the river and more extensive, maybe because the Thames has tidal fluctuation and the Seine doesn’t. But the feeling of glorious old England being dwarfed by canyons of shiny glass skyscrapers continued. But amid the canyons, in the evening after work, the pubs were full of people having a drink and celebrating the end of the work week just as people spilled out into the streets of Montmartre in the evening with drinks in their hands.
